Chlor Alkali Process Engineer

We are a lithium ion battery recycling startup that uses our patented world’s first electrochemical process to recycle batteries. We do this by transforming the recycling industry by reducing pollution and contributing to a cleaner battery recycling environment. We are a young and fast growing startup, looking for individuals who have the energy and willingness to push the boundaries of technologies. We are looking for individuals who possess the following skill sets to help with the scaling up of our business.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Process Development and Optimization: Lead the development and optimization of lithium battery recycling processes using electrolyzers, leveraging your extensive experience in chlor-alkali operations. Ensure the efficient and sustainable recovery of valuable materials from lithium batteries.
- Process Design Expertise: Utilize your proficiency in chlor-alkali processes to create and oversee the production of electrolyzer process designs tailored to battery recycling operations. Develop and maintain core process documentation suitable for various stages of project development.
- Technical Advisory Role: Provide expert process engineering advice, drawing from your background in chlor-alkali technology, to the team, clients, and contractors. Support detailed design, hazard studies, feasibility studies, and offer on-site troubleshooting and commissioning support as needed.
- Client Engagement: Leverage your expertise to deliver technical presentations and engage with potential clients, promoting our lithium battery recycling technology and services. Influence and support the sale of recycling solutions based on your deep understanding of similar industrial processes.
- Safety and Compliance: Apply your knowledge of safety, health, and environmental standards, ensuring that all recycling processes adhere to the highest standards. Maintain a strong commitment to sustainability and compliance, drawing from your experience in handling hazardous materials.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Educational Background: Degree in Chemical Engineering, preferably with professional accreditation or chartered status.
- At least 6 - 10 years' relevant experience.
- Process Engineering Expertise: Possess excellent process engineering skills with an extensive background in the design and operation of chlor-alkali process plants. Experience in lithium battery recycling is a significant advantage.
- Leadership: Proven experience in a senior engineering role, with the ability to lead teams and deliver engineering packages effectively, particularly in the context of chlor-alkali processes.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders, underpinned by your knowledge of industrial processes.
- Modern Tools: Familiarity with modern process engineering software packages to support process design and analysis in both chlor-alkali and battery recycling contexts.
- Project Execution: Knowledge of project execution methods and project management processes, including staged gate project execution, derived from your extensive experience in the chlor-alkali industry.
- Global Perspective: Willingness to travel globally as needed to support and lead initiatives, drawing on your broad experience in industrial operations.
